Welcome to House of Braus

A Creative Studio and Sanctuary for Authors.

This isn’t just an editing studio. It’s a place where authors are seen, heard, and supported.

Where your words are treated like fabric, and together we shape them into something unforgettable.

Because editing isn’t about perfection—it’s about partnership.

Meet Mallory

Editor. Teacher. Story Partner.

I’ve been living inside stories for as long as I can remember.

Long before I knew what an editor was, I was devouring books, carrying their characters with me like secret companions.

That love led me to study English at UCLA and eventually into publishing.

Over fifteen years later, I’ve worked on more than 150 stories that linger long after the final page.

Before founding House of Braus, I contracted for Harlequin’s Carina Press and Amazon imprints, as well as individual clients, working with authors whose books went on to become bestsellers and award winners.

My background in teaching and my mentorships with New York publishing professionals taught me the same truth I carry into every project now—stories thrive when authors feel seen, supported, and understood.

The Craft

I believe editing is a craft — a discipline learned through years of apprenticeship, trial, and curiosity.
I came up under mentors who taught me that real editing isn’t about fixing stories, but about caretaking them — learning how to sit inside a story before you ever think about changing it.

That foundation continues to shape how I work with authors today: respect for story, respect for intent, and a lifelong love of learning what you don’t yet know.

It’s the same spirit behind the House Classroom — a space for teaching, reflection, and the ongoing study of storytelling itself.

The Philosophy

I don’t edit from the outside. I live inside the story — holding every point of view at once: the author’s, the character’s, the reader’s, the editor’s, and the agent’s.That’s what makes my work different.

I’m a character advocate and an author champion.

I treat characters like real people, meeting them where they are. I see their potential as I might see any other living breathing individual. I make the experience immersive for the author. Together, we explore the character journeys, as well as shaping the world around them, to bring both alive on the page.

And I meet authors the same way — honoring their vision, protecting their voice, and building their confidence through sustainable craft growth.

Editing isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection — the bridge between what you imagine and what the reader feels.

Values

Integrity

Every edit honors your voice and your vision. I don’t rewrite authors — I help them refine what’s already there.

Excellence

Quality isn’t negotiable. My feedback balances big-picture development with line-level precision to help your story reach its full potential.

Collaboration

Editing should feel like partnership, not perfectionism. We’ll talk through your goals, your worries, and your wins — because this is your story, not mine.

Joy

Writing is emotional work. I want revision to feel inspiring again — a reminder that growth should be creative, not punishing.

The House

House of Braus was founded on empathy, artistry, and partnership.

It’s a space for authors to rediscover joy in revision, learn without judgment, and take ownership of their creative careers.

I built it for writers who crave excellence without losing themselves in the process.

Step inside the atelier.
Your story is ready to shine.

Every story deserves to be seen.

If you’re ready to explore yours — or simply to talk story — I’d love to connect.
